The name “
Arda Xiva” translates to “port city,” a tribute to its unique
location. Historical records suggest that a branch of the Amu Darya river once flowed here, possibly connecting to the Caspian Sea. Today, a large lake remains, covering 150 hectares. According to local historians, this lake, known as Govik, was a source of clay used to build the monuments of the Khiva’s Ichan Qala. In a nod to the Great Silk Road, the complex features a unique water recreation area and large commercial spaces.
